On a spiritual note...

“He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will find compassion. How blessed is the man who fears always, but he who hardens his heart will fall into calamity” (Proverbs 28:13-14, NASB)

This is a great truth to teach our children.  You can not hide from God.  The best way to teach this to our children is the way we live as moms (and dads).  We need to be an example.  When we make a moral mistake they notice if we try to cover it up. They also notice if we humbly except that we have sinned, confess it to God and the involved party, and try not to do it again.

How do we speak of others in the home?  Do we secretly give a negative opinion to our spouse about why Susie or Joe is this way or that way? Do we speak well of others even if we might disagree with their lifestyle? There is a loving way to tell your child why you do not agree with someone.

God knows our hearts. There is no hiding. "Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life." Prov 4:23

Do you know God, friend?  Has it been a while since you prayed? I encourage you to get that dusty book off your shelf and find the gospel of John. Read about who Jesus is and what He did. It could be life changing even if you've already "said the prayer".

Confess your sins and change! It is an eternal freedom.
